We have checked the update and it does appear that Android apps are now working as intended after the update. A fix has been rolled out and users can updated the system app to the latest version via the Google Play Store. At approximately 2:18 AM, the status was updated to “fixed” and as we expected, Google identified the issue as a problem with Android System Webview. Google continued to update the status throughout the early hours of this morning stating that its team was still investigating the issue.
Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change. We will provide an update by 3/22/21, 8:05 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. The affected users are unable to access Gmail. We’re aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a significant subset of users. Update #1Īt 7:05 last night, Google acknowledge the app crashing issue via the Google Workspace Status page. We will update this post as more news arrives. We are looking to Google for a response and/or update to the system app that should resolve the problem while getting us all on the latest version.
